Graduating Students

CEF is proud to offer $21,000 in scholarships to the CHS Class of 2025! 

 

We are thrilled to announce the Cheltenham Education Foundation has more scholarships to offer than ever before, thanks to the incredible generosity of our dedicated teachers, community members, supportive alumni, and local businesses. These scholarships represent not just financial support, but a tangible expression of belief in our students' potential and a commitment to their educational journey. 

 

This year, we are expanding our scholarship program to reach even more deserving students in the Class of 2025. Whether it's academic excellence, leadership potential, or a commitment to community service, there's a scholarship tailored to recognize and reward each student's unique talents and achievements.

Students interested in applying for a CEF Scholarship must meet the following criteria: 

  • Be a member of the Class of 2025 from Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, PA

  • Meet the specific scholarship requirements, including letters of recommendation 

 

Multiple scholarship opportunities are available: 

    • (3 awards of $500) CHS Panther Proud Scholarship what does Cheltenham High School mean to you.

    • (2 awards of $1000) Innovative Senior Scholarship will be given to two CHS students demonstrating an innovative idea, initiative or project they completed while at CHS. 

    • (3 awards of $500) Shooting for the Stars Scholarship for three CHS students who have demonstrated resilience and perseverance in overcoming obstacles during their CHS experience.  

    • (2 awards of $500) Making a Difference Scholarship for two CHS students who have a passion for improving their community and impacting the lives of others. 

    • (1 award of $500) Joe Kircher Scholarship will be awarded to a CHS graduate who valued their experience at Elkins Park School and demonstrated leadership, service, or strong character while there.

    • (1 award of $500) Barry Brucker Memorial Scholarship. The Brucker family offers this scholarship in Mr. Brucker’s memory to a student who demonstrates perseverance and a commitment to helping others.

    • (2 awards of $500) Learning Journey Scholarship will be awarded to two students who can demonstrate how they dealt with a learning challenge or difficulty and worked to improve their academic paths at CHS. 

    • (2 awards of $500) G.R.I.T. Scholarship is for a student that demonstrates Growth, Resiliency, Independence, and Tenacity in what they have accomplished as a student at CHS, as a graduate of the Skills for Life Program, and in planning for what they want to do next year. 

    • (1 award of $500) The Scholarship for Student Activism. This scholarship will be awarded to a CHS student that has participated in social activism within their community. The student should share how they have worked to cause political, environmental, economic, or social change.

    • (2 awards of $1000) The Wm. David Webb Memorial Scholarship. Dave Webb served on the Cheltenham School Board during the late 60’s and early 70’s. His belief that education is the path to so many of life’s blessings was deeply held. He lived out this belief in many ways, not the least of which was his service to the Cheltenham school community. This scholarship is intended to benefit two students who are committed to furthering their life goals through higher education.

    • (3 awards of $1000) The Green Apple Scholarship. A family in our Cheltenham community is funding this scholarship to proudly support three First Generation College attendees. Applicants should be the first in their families to be on their way to a community college, college or university.

    • (1 award of $500) Avalon Foundation PBL Award. This scholarship is presented to a senior who has been in the PBL cohort for a minimum of two years (including senior year) and has demonstrated exceptionality in these areas: collaboration, leadership, empathy, design thinking, intellectual curiosity, and creating beautiful work.

    • (1 award of $500) The Morgan Feona Powell Scholarship. This scholarship is made to honor the eternal light in Morgan. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a self-identifying female Cheltenham High School graduating senior who can demonstrate their appreciation for the power of words by composing an original poem of no fewer than twenty lines which sheds a necessary light on an urgent and present-day issue that impacts them on a personal level. Contestants will be required to deliver their original poems in front of a small panel of teacher judges from Cheltenham’s English Department.

    • ( 2 awards of $500) The Michelle Bellamy Memorial Scholarship. Michelle Bellamy was a valued member of the Cheltenham Education Foundation, serving as Vice President and the inaugural chair of the Scholarship Committee. She worked diligently to share her love of STEM with young women. To celebrate her life, this scholarship will be awarded to a female student who plans to pursue studies in STEM-related disciplines.

    • (2 awards of $500)  The TVA Scholarship. This scholarship is aimed at supporting students who are planning to pursue technical, vocational or apprenticeship programs after graduation. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to students who are passionate about acquiring practical skills in a specific trade, vocational or technical field. Applicants are required to provide information about their intended program and goals for attendance.

    • (1 award of $500) Entrepreneur Spirit Scholarship. This scholarship is designed to support students who demonstrate a passion for entrepreneurship and desire to start their own business. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to budding entrepreneurs, helping them turn their innovative ideas into successful ventures. Applicants are required to demonstrate their creativity, business acumen and commitment to make a positive impact through their business endeavors.

    • (2 awards of $500) The Associate Scholarship. This scholarship is tailored for students who are planning to attend a community college or earn an associate degree after graduation. This award is designed to empower students to achieve their academic aspirations and pave the way for a successful future.

    •  (1 award for $500) The Artistic Achievement Award. This scholarship is for seniors who have been actively engaged in the performing or visual arts, whether in school or community settings, and wish to continue their artistic pursuits after high school. Applicants should describe how their participation in the arts has influenced their personal growth and enhanced their lives. The scholarship aims to support students in furthering their creative passions, whether through formal education, entrepreneurship, online platforms or community involvement. It encourages the continued development of artistic talents and exploration of creative endeavors beyond high school.

    • (1 scholarship for $500) The True Self Scholarship. This scholarship is for a member of the CHS senior class who identifies as LGBTQ. Applicants are encouraged to share the challenges they have faced in their journey, including personal or societal obstacles, and how they have navigated them. The scholarship also invites applicants to offer advice and support for other LGBTQ students and staff members, fostering a sense of community and understanding. It aims to recognize resilience, strength, and the courage to be one's true self, while providing financial support for future endeavors. 

    • ( 1 scholarship for $500). Daniel H. Banner Memorial Scholarship. Daniel Banner graduated CHS in 1987 and was a proud panther. He had a love for movies and film, leading to a rewarding career at Disney and NFL Films for almost two decades. As an editor and media manager, Daniel was the recipient of a Telly and Emmy. This scholarship is for a senior who is passionate about the art of film, like Daniel. Contestants must convey a compelling story on any topic in a microfilm up to 90 seconds long and provide a short paragraph summarizing the film. Focus on how editing and cinematography plays a role in creating a thoughtful story. No AI permitted in microfilm. Any other mediums can be utilized (stop motion, animation, live action, etc.). 

    • (1 scholarship for $500). Scriven Memorial Scholarship. Walter and Medis Scriven were passionate about the transformative power of education and creating opportunities for all students, regardless of background. As advocates for social justice, they worked to break down barriers to ensure every child could reach their full potential. This scholarship honors their legacy by providing financial support to students committed to academic excellence, community service and social equity. It reflects their belief that education unlocks a brighter future for both the individual and society. Applicants should show a strong academic record, leadership potential and a commitment to community improvement. Preference will be given to students who have overcome significant challenges in their educational journey.
