Thanks to the generosity of its donors, the Cheltenham Education Foundation has awarded more than $400,000 in Innovative Educator Grants since its inception in 1991.
Each Spring, Cheltenham School District educators are invited to apply for grants that support and complement their subject area curriculum and create innovative student engagement. The variety of grants awarded cover every core curriculum area and dozens of diverse, specialized areas of educational enrichment, including extracurricular opportunities offered to students outside of regular school hours. In recent years, a growing number of grants have been awarded to support school-wide initiatives designed to address the social and emotional well-being of all students.
The Foundation deeply believes that innovative approaches to curriculum spark student creativity and academic excellence - regardless of grade. Grants funded by the Cheltenham Education Foundation bring innovation to life through classroom equipment, field trips, project materials, program software, guest speakers and so much more. Though the projects completed through these grants vary, one thing remains the same, everyone's enthusiasm and creativity for enriching students' lives.
Applicants can request up to $1500 per grant awarded.
As you learn more about our grants, we are sure you will see how these experiences allow our students to develop into better students and citizens.
Grants were not awarded in the Spring of 2020 since schools transitioned to virtual instruction due to COVID. However, during the fall of 2020, the Foundation awarded $1,500 to each school to be used to support students and families in virtual instruction. $5,000 was also donated to the school district to support district efforts to address food insecurity.
If you have a unique or innovative idea for your students that you'd love to see come to life? You are encouraged to apply for an Innovative Educator Grant.
