Mission

The mission of the Cheltenham Education Foundation is to raise funds and support initiatives that enhance educational programming in the Cheltenham School District. The Foundation is dedicated to providing resources and opportunities that enrich the learning experiences of our students.

History

In 1991, the Cheltenham Education Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary focus was to provide funding and assistance to launch, support and administer opportunities that benefit the students of the School District of Cheltenham Township.

For many years, the Foundation supported instructional programs by awarding innovative teaching grants. Activities and programs initiated, sponsored, administered or supported by the Foundation are designed to enhance or augment, not to replace or substitute basic educational services required by local, state or federal authorities.

In 2018, the Forst Foundation donated $5,000 to the Cheltenham Education Foundation. The funding was used to establish senior class scholarships that (use this line rather than the word scholarship again) recognize/showcase students with learning differences, those who have demonstrated perseverance, or taken initiative to enhance the larger school community. In the first year,  $6, 000 of scholarships were awarded to 10 students. By 2023, the Foundation awarded $23,000 in scholarships to 23 students.
